Whole sketchbooks are often begun and completed in one short session. The strategy for this task depends on setting out of rules, which limit both materials and time. The initial mark is made rapidly on each page. The sketchbook is then restarted and spontaneous responses are added to the previous mark. Sometimes this process is repeated.
